Facultative myiasis caused by rat-tailed maggots in a dog in Belgium

A two-year-old cavalier King Charles spaniel was presented with accidentally observed larvae in fresh feces, which were identified as rat-tailed of the common drone fly (Eristalis tenax). This can cause facultative myiasis both humans and animals. Although myasis has already been described humans, to authors’ knowledge, this is first description such a case an animal Belgium.
